Unlimited Image Generation APIs 2026: Flat Monthly Price Options

Which image generation APIs are really unlimited for a flat monthly price in 2026: ModelsLab, useapi.net, Infer, Puter.js and self-hosting on RunPod or Modal.

Last updated

Disclosure: stablediffusionapi.com is operated by the ModelsLab team, and ModelsLab sells one of the plans below. We list every other option we found and state each plan's limits.

Short answer (checked 2026-10-02): very few image APIs are truly unlimited, and each route has a catch. Self-hosting on RunPod or Modal is unlimited by the GPU hour (an L40S from $0.79/hour on RunPod), but you run the servers. useapi.net ($15/month) turns a subscription you already hold on another AI site into an API, with that site’s limits. Puter.js moves the cost to your end users. The only flat-fee API with no other account that we found is ModelsLab Open Source Unlimited at $149/month: unlimited on the open models it hosts, 15 parallel generations, closed models billed extra.

ModelsLab runs this site, so this is the one list where our plan fits the query by definition. Read the limits column before you choose.

Options that look unlimited but are not

These came up in searches for “unlimited image API”. On 2026-10-02, none sold an unlimited API:

  • Leonardo.Ai: unlimited relaxed generation is in the app plans; the API is billed by usage, with up to 10 concurrent generations (pricing).
  • Apiframe: credit plans from $39 (4,000 credits) to $749 (75,000 credits) (pricing).
  • Pollinations: prepaid “Pollen” credits, about 1 Pollen per $1 (FAQ).
  • deAPI: usage-billed, for example $0.00367 for a 1024x1024, 4-step image (pricing).
  • ImaginePro: credit plans in the app; API price is “Custom” (pricing).

Provider notes

Self-hosting on RunPod or Modal

This is “unlimited by GPU hour”. A RunPod L40S pod on Community Cloud costs $0.79/hour, about $577 for 730 hours. Modal bills an L40S at $0.000542 per second, about $1,424 for a month of continuous use, but costs nothing while scaled to zero. Your cost per image is the hourly price divided by the images your pipeline makes per hour; measure that on your own model and resolution. You also own uptime, scaling and model updates.

useapi.net

useapi.net turns your logged-in accounts on AI websites into a REST API. It costs $15/month for the first subscription. It does not add generations: if your plan on the other website has an unlimited or relax mode, you inherit it with that site’s throttling and terms. Its Midjourney support ended on 2026-06-24.

ModelsLab Open Source Unlimited

The plan costs $149/month or $1,500/year. It removes the per-call charge on the open-source models ModelsLab runs on its own GPUs (about 500 GPUs in its own datacenter plus rented capacity), including FLUX.1 dev, Kontext dev, FLUX.2 klein 9B, SDXL and community checkpoints and LoRAs. The real limit is concurrency: 15 generations at a time, so your monthly volume depends on how long each image takes. Closed and partner models, such as Google or ByteDance models, are billed per call from a wallet on top of the plan. The cheaper Basic ($21, 3,250 calls) and Standard ($47, 10,000 calls) plans are not unlimited. See pricing.

Puter.js

Puter.js is a client-side library where each end user signs in to Puter and pays for their own generations. It costs the developer nothing, but it suits consumer web apps, not a backend that generates images for your own pipeline.

Infer

Infer offered a $49/month unlimited plan, but tryinfer.com now says it is no longer accepting new subscriptions, and its API was usage-billed.

How to choose

  • Very high volume and an engineer to run GPUs: RunPod pods.
  • Spiky volume, scale to zero: Modal.
  • Steady high volume on open models, no ops work: ModelsLab Open Source Unlimited.
  • You already pay for an unlimited plan on another AI website: useapi.net.
  • Closed models (GPT Image, Gemini, FLUX pro): no flat-price API covers these; use a metered provider. See our Flux API comparison.

How we checked

We searched for unlimited and flat-rate image APIs and read each vendor’s own pricing page on 2026-10-02. We left out template-image tools that are not AI image generation. PiAPI’s site was down when we checked, so it is not listed.

FAQ

Is there an unlimited image generation API?
Yes, with limits. On 2026-10-02, ModelsLab's Open Source Unlimited plan ($149/month or $1,500/year) was the only API we found that sells unlimited generations for a flat fee without another account. It covers the open-source models ModelsLab hosts, caps you at 15 parallel generations, and bills closed and partner models separately.
Is useapi.net unlimited?
useapi.net costs $15/month for the first subscription and connects your own accounts on other AI websites to a REST API. Any unlimited use comes from the plan you already pay for on that website, for example a relax mode, and useapi.net says PixVerse relax mode is throttled past a daily threshold.
Can I still subscribe to Infer Unlimited?
No. tryinfer.com says Infer is no longer accepting new subscriptions, and its API was billed by usage, not by the unlimited plan.
Is self-hosting cheaper than an unlimited plan?
It can be. An L40S pod on RunPod Community Cloud costs $0.79/hour, about $577 for a full month. Your cost per image is the hourly price divided by the images your pipeline makes per hour, and you run the servers yourself.
Is there a free unlimited image API?
We did not find a free API that is unlimited without conditions. Pollinations uses prepaid credits, and Puter.js moves the cost to your end users. ModelsLab has no free plan.
